Kamila Ženatá

Beautiful Mountain

Main Hall

14. 02. – 18. 05. 2025

Kamila Ženatá (*1953) is an artist who needs no extensive introduction on the Czech art scene. Her work is very diverse and multilayered. Kamila Ženatá has undergone a long and complex development since her studies of graphic art in the studio of Ladislav Čepelák at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. In addition to painting, which we have decided to present in the vaulted spaces of the gallery in Roudnice, she has also been involved in site-specific installations, moving image, as well as elaborate curatorial projects focused on mental issues, in which she tries to grasp sensitive topics of an introspective and interpersonal nature. In her impressive painting cycles of recent years, the artist has succeeded in capturing abstract-poetic images of the world using colour and authentic painting technique. They reflect not only her extraordinary sense of the delicate relationships that exist between the colours on the canvas, but above all her desire to know and understand things that are obvious, but also those that far exceed us. In the generous vaulted space of the gallery, we will present the artist’s latest series, in which she focuses on the motif of the mountain and what the mountain personifies in the general cultural and historical context, as well as in terms of the artist’s own introspective experience.
